Q: What is Showroom New?
A: Showroom New is a permanent solution designed to restore exterior plastic, vinyl and rubber surfaces back to their original luster.
Q: What kinds of exterior parts do you mean?
A: Bumpers, mirrors, fender flares, bed liners, mud flaps, door handles, cowl vents, soft tops, windshield wiper arms even tires! One 4 oz. bottle can do two or more entire cars.
Q: Does it come in black only?
A: Showroom New comes in BLACK and GREY.
Q: Does Showroom New have any silicone in it?
A: All products are 100% silicone free!
Q: How long does it last?
A: Showroom New is a permanent dye that will bring your exterior trim back to its like-new appearance. Typically, one coat of Showroom New will leave your plastics, vinyl and rubber looking beautiful for years.
Q: Do I need any special equipment to apply it?
A: There are several ways to apply Showroom New, but the simplest is to use gloves and a small piece of a shop towel or roll-on sponge applicator. Make sure to wear clothes that can be stained.
Q: Can I dye over any color of rubber, vinyl or plastic?
A: It is not a good idea to try and change the color of your existing exterior trim. If your trim is grey you should use the Grey Dye and Black Dye for black trim. Do not try to dye over brown, blue or green. The results might not be consistent as porous areas tend to be different in how they accept the dye, leaving your trim with an uneven appearance.
Q: Will Showroom New stain the paint or glass as well?
A: No, Showroom New only adheres to porous materials so it can be easily wiped off painted surfaces or glass. If you miss a spot and it dries, simply use a dry rag to rub off. Showroom New is not water-based so do not try to remove using water. For difficult areas try using spirits.
Q: How long does it take to dry?
A: In warm weather 5 to 10 minutes should be sufficient. Cooler temperatures will take up to 20 minutes. It is not advisable to use Showroom New in extremely hot weather as it will dry too fast and not give you the time to apply it at your leisure. In hot weather we suggest you move your vehicle into the shade or garage.
Q: Does it leave a shine when its dry?
A: Since Showroom New has no silicone it will dry with a muted luster similar to when you first purchased your vehicle. If you would like a shiny appearance, once dry you can apply Detail King's non silicone dressing on top of the dye to get a glossy finish. It will not affect the black or grey color you have just applied.
Q: Is it good for anything else besides interior dashboards and my vinyl or leather seats?
A. As we said earlier, it?s great for applying over exterior trim after you have used our dye products. Since it has no silicone it will last wash after wash. You can also use it on tires as well.

Restoring faded and oxidized plastic trim on vehicles is easy to do and you can make a nice profit at it. Just like automobile paint the plastic trim will fade too. The elements from the environment will cause the plastic trim to lose its original color and become dull and nasty looking. With our plastic dye products you can easily restore: Bumpers, mirrors, fender flares, bed liners, mud flaps, door handles, cowl vents, soft tops, windshield wiper arms even tires! One 4 oz. bottle can restore up to 200 door handles. Always use safe release tape for masking, shop paper towels to apply dye and wear latex or nitrile gloves.
If you have an auto detailing business you should carefully inspect the plastic trim on the vehicle you are about to work on and if you think that the plastic dye will make a big difference propose your restoration service to your customer. For retail customers you should be able to charge $5 per door handle, $10 per mirror, $20-$30 per bumper cover, $15-$20 per fender flair, $50 for bed liners, $5 for each mud flap, $20 for cowl vents, $50 for soft tops, and $8 each for wiper arms. If multiple components on a vehicle need restored you may want to reduce your price and offer a package price of possibly 10%-15%.
You may want to offer your plastic restoration service to car dealerships. Dealerships will want wholesale pricing but will have many vehicles to do. Negotiate your best deal with car dealers; never "give away" your service once you obtain the account. Many used car lots display vehicles that have been detailed but the plastic trim was only conditioned by a tire dressing and will evaporate and the faded plastic will come back. The only way to make plastic trim look and stay new again is by dyeing it with our platic trim dye products. Our products will not streak like many plastic dyes do and once dry will look new!
The best way to obtain a used car lot as an account is to first "walk the lot" and find the worst door handles and offer the used car manager or car lot owner a free door handle restoration for one vehicle. Just restore one door handle first on the worst vehicle then show the manager the difference! He will be impressed and you should get him as a new customer with only a few minutes of work. If you able to obtain this account the manager will want you to stop by the dealership and walk the lot at least once a week to check out the new arrivals and restore the plastic trim on those vehicles. Be sure you mention that you can restore just about any black plastic trim component. |
